In 1973, Pink Floyd released their classic album, “Dark Side of the Moon.” It is considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time.

The album has a song by Roger Waters entitled, “Time.” It has some haunting lyrics: “Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain. And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. So you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking. Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older. Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. Every year is getting shorter; never seem to find the time.”

Isn’t that the truth? No one told us when to run, and we missed the starting gun.

In the last days of her life, Queen Elizabeth I said, “Half of my kingdom for a little more time.” Psalm 144, verse 4 observes, “We are like a puff of wind. Our days are like a passing shadow.”

May God help us today to remember that each day is a precious gift from the hand of God, and to live each day to the fullest.

Let’s remember the words of Jesus, “I have come that they might have life, life abundantly.” (John 10:10) Let’s not miss the starting gun.
