0:00One of the benefits of prayer and meditation is getting to know yourself and getting to know God in a more intimate way.

0:09It's helpful to recognize that there will be negative thoughts and negative emotions, but take them for what they are, just thoughts and emotions.

0:21Realize who you truly are.

0:24You are loved by a creator who made you and loves you.

0:32Okay.

0:33Let's get started by allowing the body to relax.

0:39And when you're ready, let your eyes close like the sun sets.

0:51Take a moment to consider this verse: The Lord created you.

1:05And again, the Lord created you.

1:28Gradually, and with ease, bring your awareness to rest on your breath.

1:41Feel the body rise with each inhale, and then allow your awareness to rest in a little more with each exhale.

2:05Notice how with each breath, the body feels a little calmer.

2:23Begin to notice the space around the body.

2:33Feel the contact of the body on the chair, and your feet on the floor.

2:47When you feel comfortable, begin to scan the entire body to build up a picture of what the body feels like.

3:01Piece by piece, release any areas of tension.

3:11Let go of your stress.

3:14Let go of your anxiety.

3:20You are exactly where you're meant to be.

3:33Allow that natural rhythm of the breath to relax you.

3:50Let your breath guide you to a place of safety in the presence of God.

4:09You are accepted here.

4:13You are loved.

4:27With ease, bring your attention to the breath.

4:40Take a few nice deep breaths.

4:49Make them feel easy and effortless.

5:04Feel life enter your body as you breathe in, and then release your tension as you breathe out.

5:34Inhale.

5:35Feel how the body expands.

5:39Then slowly exhale, feeling the body fall.

6:00Feel the air as it travels in through the nose.

6:07And follow the air back out through the mouth.

6:20Allow each breath to soften the chest and relax the shoulders.

6:38Begin to scan the body from the head to the toe, relaxing the body piece by piece.

7:03There's no way to do this wrong.

7:17And now, for a few moments, allow your mind to do what it wants to do.

7:31If it wants to think, then let it think.

7:38And if it wants to rest, then let it rest.

7:57Take this verse with you: The Lord created you.

8:17When you feel ready, slowly bring your awareness back to the breath and allow your eyes to open.

8:29Take a few deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth.

8:39Notice how you feel.

8:44I hope you feel a little more relaxed.

8:48We'll see you again tomorrow with hope, mindfulness, and prayer.
